Bill Reiter sings “Get On The Bus” Pt. Two. I finally got around to remixing this tribute video with my good friend Bill Reiter, who sang the song back in the 1970s! It’s an extended mix of a group of very popular 30 second radio jingles done for B.C. Hydro. The songs were written and directed by Miles Ramsay of Vancouver’s Griffiths, Gibson & Ramsay Productions and played on Vancouver radio stations. The ad agency in charge was WestCan with Daryl Shee producing. Bill is the lead vocal, and he is supported by his friend and colleague, Jane Mortifee, one of the background singers.

This video includes footage from these four YouTube contributors:

  1. Bus Parade uploaded by Dennis Tsang on September 2, 2006.
  2. B.C. Electric 1947 Candian Car T-44 - 2040 uploaded by TranslinkKid on June 20, 2011.
  3. Brill trolleys racing side by side in Vancouver, BC down Hastings Street uploaded by davesbuspix on April 25, 2010.
  4. Farewell to Brill 2405 uploaded by on June 1, 2011.

As a backstory to this video, here’s a shorter version of the song by a superkeen Translink insider that got the idea for this rolling almost a year ago. This one minute version apparently uses footage from the 1948 BC Electric film “Goin’ to Town”. Personally, I’d love to see more of this kind of footage!

You may recall, there is an identically named production from 1985 that describes the SkyTrain system!

Bill and I had great fun putting this little video together; I hope you enjoy it!
